About Us

Centre for Science Education

We are one of the UK’s leading academic groups in STEM education, part of the Institute of Education at Sheffield Hallam University. We have specific focus on science, working to improve the experience of young people in school science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), often in partnership with schools, organisations and industry. We also focus on skills, employment, and equality and diversity issues in education and the workplace, incorporating research and evaluation, curriculum design and development, innovation in CPD, teacher development and education consultancy.

Royal Air Force

The RAF is a modern and inclusive organisation that needs to employ a continuous stream of motivated, energetic and confident people. We value independent and innovative thinking; communication and team working are key skills for all. With over 40% of our annual vacancies requiring individuals with STEM skills we are keen to encourage students, particularly girls, to continue with Science and Maths at all levels. The relationship with Sheffield Hallam University has seen the Virtual Summit project develop from an idea that started life as a fitness development challenge, into a goal related personal development programme that encourages students to set their own achievable goals, and can be applied to any subject or activity.
